Best Practices Regarding HSCOI Co-Conveners:
- HSCOI elects two co-conveners.
- Co-conveners serve for a period of 2 years (May to May) at which point the opportunity to lead is opened up to other HSCOI members.
- If no one else wishes to co-convene, the co-conveners may continue on, if they so choose.
- Co-conveners should be from two separate institutions to promote diversity of experience and ideas.
- If a co-convener ceases working at BLC library during their term or their library leaves the BLC, the position will be opened up mid-term to a new person.
- An email will be sent to the listserv before the May meeting where new co-conveners are selected asking if anyone is interested in being a co-convener. Those interested in co-convening should respond affirmatively privately to the current co-conveners. Interested parties should have a history of participation in the COI.
- If one person responds: the current co-conveners will discuss among themselves if either of them wishes to continue along with the other person.
- If two people respond from different institutions: they will receive the election.
- If two people respond from the same institution:
- The current two co-conveners will decide among themselves which would like to continue on. The two interested parties from the same institution will write up a statement regarding their reasons and qualifications and be ready to present this to the group at the May meeting. There will be a vote at the meeting selecting one of the two candidates for the co-convening position.
- If more than two people respond:
- All those interested in the position will write up a statement regarding their reasons and qualifications and be ready to present this to the group at the May meeting. There will be a vote at the meeting selecting two of the candidates for the co-convening positions.
